Latin Name: Gammarus lacustris (Crustacea, Amphipoda, Gammaridae)

Areas: Many lakes and rivers all over the world.


In Man and Water the Gammarus is used to indicate the state of acidification because they can not withstand a pH value below 5.5.

 The Gammarus belongs to the most important fish food organisms, but are also utilized by different species of birds.
